CHECK OUT HOW IT WORKS!

So, you want a new powered cattle crush, but you don’t have electricity in your yards?

let’s face it, a lOUD generator thundering in the background all day causes you stress as much as it does your cattle.

With everything on your plate, your cattle crush shouldn’t add to your worries.

Are you:

  • A large cattle station facing the challenge of using loud generators in remote areas, causing stress for your cattle and difficulties for your team?

  • A stud operation having trouble handling large bulls in your crush with inadequate vet space and a difficult catch?

  • A family-run farm finding yard work slow and inefficient, despite relying on family help, because of fixed, stationary crush operations?

  • A feedlot running regular inductions on animals with varying temperaments and are worried about the safety of your staff and animals?

Introducing the Morrissey Hydraulic Crush: a solar-powered, quiet crush alternative, eliminating the need for high cost, loud traditional power sources.

Being the world's first battery powered crush, its unique design is centred around minimizing stress and improving efficiency, offering a smarter way to handle cattle, and ensuring operator and animal safety whilst reducing costs.

Experience The Difference

Stress-Free Cattle Handling

The 12-volt lithium battery powers the hydraulic unit, creating a low-noise, low-stress environment for both animals and operators.

Buy Once, Use Forever

The modular construction allows for easy part replacement. Just unbolt, replace with the corresponding part and its good as new.

Full Animal Control

The combination of the independent top and bottom squeeze, rubber head bail and neck extension control all body, neck and head movement, immobilizing the animal.

Multitasking Made Easy

With up to 20m of range, the remote-control design offers users unparalleled freedom of movement throughout the yards, reducing reliance on labour.

See what other cattle farmers are saying!

We couldn’t be happier. The crush has made our job pretty much effortless. A regular comment made by others, is how quiet it is, which definitely improves the low stress handling of cattle in the yards.

The parallel squeeze function is very useful when treating bulls that are difficult to restrain in the head bale, and also when marking calves.

Our annual rainfall is 2000mm or 80 inches per year, so as you can imagine we have quite a few wet and overcast days. In spite of this, we have never had a power failure when handling cattle for the whole day and for consecutive days.

I couldn’t guess how many thousands of cattle we have put through the crush in the past five years, only ever having to replace a battery once.

In 2001 my family started another cattle business and my priority switched to ensuring my family was safe from the dangers of working with cattle. That’s when I started building hydraulic cattle crushes.

After four years of trials, I knew we had a great product on our hands. I decided that selling the design was best and thought of the Morrissey Family first since they were well-known in the industry and were not currently manufacturing crushes.

Working with Morrissey and Co. confirmed we made the right choice. They are good at what they do and care about their staff. Not long after, they showed me plans to continue developing the crush further. I'm proud to see that they are taking what I started to new heights.

FEATURES

The World's First Solar Powered Crush

With its unique design, the crush's hydraulic unit is powered by a 12-volt lithium battery, whilst continually receiving solar input from the connected 350W solar panel.

This creates a low-noise environment for efficient processing whilst also allowing the crush to be both portable and used in even the most remote locations.

Safe and Easy Head Access

Once the animal's neck is caught, operators can utilise the neck extension to pull the animal's head forward to your desired distance.

Key Benefits:

  • Immoblises the animal's head - removing the need for a chin bar or scoop.
  • Easy access to inoculation sites in the neck and behind the ear.
  • There's no need for the operator's arms to be inside the crush, reducing the risk of injury.

Anti-Slip & Added Comfort

The thick rubber matting on the floor and head bail provides added comfort for the cattle, reducing noise and providing a low-stress environment. Additionally, the rubber is designed to be anti-slip.

Key Benefits:

  • Reduces slipping injuries
  • Rubber moulds to the animal's neck, restricting movement and head slippage.
  • Catches bulls more effectively by restricting their ability to slip out of the head bail.

Maximum Safety, Zero Compromises

Incorporating an independent top and

bottom squeeze, the Morrissey Hydraulic

Crush will immobilise animals of

any size, whether it's your largest bull or smallest calf.

With the ability to set the crush in a "V" formation, the squeeze also controls the animal's pace through the crush, ensuring a good catch every time and a safe environment for all.

Operate With Ease

Controlling the back gate, squeeze, head bail and neck extension, the remote allows command over all key crush functions.

Are you finding it hard to get labour or often using the crush by yourself? With up to 20m of range, users can easily operate the crush whilst performing other tasks anywhere in the yards.

Durability and Longevity

Boasting up to 6mm thick Australian steel, this crush is as durable as it comes, but let's face it, general wear and tear is inevitable.

However, our laser-cut, bolted design ensures the crush will last you a lifetime. Constructed in modules, all elements are interchangeable and can be easily replaced.

Additionally, all bearings, hydraulic fittings etc. are standard off-the-shelf. Just pop into your local hardware store or hydraulic specialist.

FAQs

Got a question? We’re here to help.

  • How long does the battery last without solar?

Two alternate smart lithium battery options are available.

Assuming that the users do not operate below 20% battery life:

    • 100AH battery: 3.0 – 3.5 hours without solar input
    • 180AH battery: 5.5 – 6.0 hours without solar input

  • Can the crush be operated if its a cloudy/rainy day?

The crush can operate in all environments, with one solar panel typically adequate for most Australian conditions. However, if the crush is being operated in a high rainfall location, we suggest utilising a second solar panel to improve charging capacity in cloudy weather. The solar panel's charging rate can be assessed using the Victron Connect App.

  • What is the remote controls range?

The remote has a range of 25 to 30 meters.

  • What happens if you lose power, and an animal is caught?

You can manually override each solenoid or use the safety release valve to release all hydraulic pressure.

  • What type of scales can be installed for this crush?

The crush is compatible with standard scale mounting points, suitable for Gallagher or Tru-Test load bars. These can be purchased through Morrissey & Co. or your chosen agent.

  • Can the crush be connected to mains power and/or a generator if needed?

This does not come as standard; however, customers have the option to purchase an optional extra - the Victron Easy Solar Converter/Charger/MPPT attachment to cater to this requirement.

  • Can the battery life be checked before use?

Using the Victron Connect App, customers can connect via Bluetooth to the crush’s smart battery allowing the user to check the battery status.

In addition to this, the Victron Connect App allows the user to connect to the MPPT solar regulator, to monitor the charging rate from the solar panel.
